Valo & Varjo shell earrings are small and light sculptures, that you can wear. Valo and varjo means light and shadow. The earrings are handmade of maple, smoked oak and recycled silver. The arrangement of curved elements create an interesting play of light and shadow. This is further enhanced by the combination of light maple and dark oak. The form of the earrings is inspired by nut shells. Instead of being completely closed, they are slightly open from the sides to invite you to take a look to the secrets inside of them.
The earrings are working like stud earrings. Wooden parts are attached to flexible silver chains. Wood is finished with plant based oils.
Valo & Varjo collection has been awarded with FORM2018 design award.
Wood is a living material and every piece has its own color and texture. It means, that the texture and color can be little different from piece to piece. Here you find more information about the wood we use. We use mainly wood from Finland.
The materials are carefully chosen. We use only certified European wood. This way we can be sure, that the wood comes from well cared and controlled forests.
Avoid contact with water, this way your Viilu Jewelry will last long. You can oil the wooden surface, if it has some scratches or has been in contact with water. Take a closer look into our care instructions.
The jewelry is handmade by us at our creative workshop Koivisto Studio in Finland. We want to honor the materials and give a hand made touch to them. With a small scale production we ensure good quality and show our care towards the environment. We produce our jewelry as sustainable as possible.
Every Viilu jewelry is delivered in a packaging, which is made of certified cardboard, outer part out of recycled cardboard. Our packaging contains no plastic and they are produced in Finland.
