Lehti birch bark box is made for storing small items for example jewelry. Lehti means leaf. Lehti boxes are handmade of local picked birch bark, which means they are all individual and can vary slightly from each other. The inner part is birch veneer. Birch bark is very traditional material in Finland. In Lehti boxes the long traditions are bind with modern wood work and form language. The removal of the birch bark is done by professionals to ensure that the birch trees stay alive after the removal. Each box is numbered and stamped.
Wood is a living material and every piece has its own color and texture. It means, that the texture and color can be little different from piece to piece. Here you find more information about the wood we use. We use mainly wood from Finland.
The materials are carefully chosen. We use only certified European wood. This way we can be sure, that the wood comes from well cared and controlled forests.
Avoid contact with water, this way your Lehti box will last long. You can oil the wooden surface, if it has some scratches or has been in contact with water. Take a closer look into our care instructions.
The products are handmade by us at our creative workshop Koivisto Studio in Finland. We want to honor the materials and give a hand made touch to them. With a small scale production we ensure good quality and show our care towards the environment. We produce our products as sustainable as possible.
