kaari means arc. Arc illustrates a journey from beginning to the end. It’s also a part of a perfect form – circle. kaari earrings have silver hooks, that work the same way like hanging earrings. The form of the hooks repeats the form of the wooden part.
Wood is a living material and every piece has its own color and texture. It means, that the texture and color can be little different from piece to piece. The origin of the wood we use: pine – Finland, birch – Finland, oak – Germany.
viilu jewelry’s colored inner part is birch veneer, that is through-dyed. Compared to lacquer finishing, through-dyed wood will not loose its color when you are using it. The main ingredient used in coloring is water. The coloring is done in Finland. Here you find more information about the wood we use.
Our silver parts are 100% recycled silver, except the silver chains.
Avoid contact with water, this way your viilu jewelry will last long. You can oil the wooden surface, if it has some scratches or has been in contact with water. Take a closer look into our care instructions.
The production of the jewelry is made by hand. This way we want to honor the material and give a hand made touch to it. The silver blocks for kaari earrings are cast in Finland and the rest of the production is made by us. The materials are carefully chosen. We use only certified European wood. We produce our jewelry as sustainable as possible.
Every viilu jewelry is delivered in a packaging, which is made of cardboard, outer part out of recycled cardboard. Our packaging contains no plastic and they are produced in Finland.
